About:
loose tooth. is a kinetic novel following former field detective Hal Macleod on her sixth annual return to the same small town her former field partner disappeared in now six years ago. It’s an exploration of love, loss, and holiday-tinged grief through a cloudy queer lens.
Notes:
This is only a demo and contains about 1/3rd of what I have planned for this story. loose tooth. will see its full release by the end of 2023.

Author’s Note: loose tooth. was originally conceptualized and briefly worked on for Winter Jam 2022 before unexpected illness forced my hand to shelve it. It has been revived for FFS Jam 2023, if only for a demo. Very appreciative of the motivation this jam gave me to finish something towards the final project, and doubly excited to finally share the beginning of what’s been a passion project in my mind for far too long now.
As this is a demo, it’s a little rough around the edges. I am aware of most of the issues I’m releasing this demo with, and am working hard to rectify them all for the full release! The only slightly disruptive issue you may encounter is the inability to save as I have not yet reprogrammed my UI. Thus, I strongly suggest playing this game in its entirety in one sitting.

This was an incredibly poignant little story! I really enjoyed getting to know more and more about both Hal and Lin—they're honestly so cute (but also sad and tragic and make me want to cry??). I love the little snippet we get of their dynamic in the flashback scene, and it made me want to know more about how their relationship developed before what happened? AND ALSO WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED IN GENERAL? BECAUSE???
The whole soft and sad vibe of this was really lovely and it did a lot to add to the whole feeling of just... subdued hopelessness and sadness that Hal is feeling about life. I feel like the art style and color palette work really well together to set the tone. And I LOVE the animation of the snow in the title screen! It sets it up right from the beginning to just have this kinda... weighted vibe to it, that only grows as we learn more about Hal's thoughts and what she's going through.
Will be really looking forward to seeing how this story progresses! Especially as right now I can't see how the happy ending will come?? LOL so now I'm quite curious just what will end up happening. A really lovely job overall!! 💕

what can i say, nothing speaks to me more than tragic gays and an equally as tragic and gay little story. i know ur familiar with the type… heheh. but im glad u feel so curious as to hal and lins dynamic and their present as well! im beyond excited to get to continue to unfurl the pair of them and how they connect with the full release. ive sat on their story for a while until finally making it into loose tooth so im quite eager to share whats been brewing. ( and if hal could be any phrase, subdued hopelessness is honestly the best choice. ) and i promise the weight lifts as the story progresses, and there WILL be a happier ending than im sure u can imagine rn! maybe happy isnt the uh right word, but its certainly not hopeless. 👁
